  1. We had a family day out here today with my 8 year old daughter. All the team were lovely and friendly. Very informative and helpful. Loved meeting the animals. Princess and precious the goats and Romeo the horse stole my heart! My daughter would have happily ran off with fidget! Wonderful day.

  2. Travelled 10 miles to Lamont Farm with my toddler for a first time visit. We gave a generous donation upon entry and made our way to see the donkeys. My partner tried to go through one of the gates and a member of staff shouted “This is no entry!” The staff were then bringing horses past us and again shouted “Can you move further away!” Not a “please” or “thank you”. The attitude of staff and lack of manners let the farm down.

    1. Hi April. We’re so very sorry if you felt that we treated you badly, as that would never have been our intention. However, the safety of both our visitors and volunteers are absolutely paramount for us. There are several areas on the Farm where it is unsafe for visitors, attempting to go through gates into fields is one of these. Our website clearly states the health and safety do’s and dont’s of visiting the Farm, as we know that not everyone is aware of what to expect. As you say, this was your first visit. You were asked to avoid the area of no entry due to being potentially in the cross-fire of two horses that bicker with one another. On this occasion the need for hasty action meant that politeness had to take a back seat. The alternative could have resulted in one of your party potentially taking a severe or very sore bite. When moving horses our primary concern is everyone’s health and safety, so we can only apologise if we appeared short towards you. We must ensure that the public are kept at a safe distance from any horse, in order to avoid the animal getting a fright and hurting either one of our hard-working volunteers or any member of the public in the immediate vicinity. Our aim is always to try and be courteous to every visitor that we speak to, so it is extremely upsetting for us to receive such a negative review. This is especially upsetting since our volunteers are giving their time freely to make sure that all our visitors enjoy their time at the Farm. We’re sorry we weren’t able to fully meet your expectations on this occasion and hope that you can come back and see us again soon.

    2. I honestly and totally agree with you, it is a nice place with lovely animals and has the potential to be loved with kids and families but staff are sooo rude and very bossy, want to show they are in control and we as visitors are like extra burden on them so will definitely not going back there

      1. Hi Maryam. We do apologise for not replying to your post earlier, but we do not see notifications of comments in the guest book unless we’re in updating the website (which isn’t that often).

Whilst we’re aware that some visitors may not like being instructed by our volunteers not to do things, such as being asked three times to stop feeding carrots to the animals, we often have to be forceful (not rude) when making such a request. That same carrot could actually be the one that would kill some of our animals!

For example, if someone persists in doing something that could jeopardise the health or lives of our animals, and refuses to stop when politely requested to cease from doing so, then yes, we will have to be “bossy”. The animals will always be our top priority. Indeed, without these HEALTHY animals there wouldn’t be a Farm to visit.

We’re sorry we weren’t able to fully meet your expectations on this occasion and hope that you can see fit to reverse your decision and come back and visit us again.

    1. Hi Mrs McKay. Apologies for not replying sooner, but we do not get notifications when someone posts on here. We’ve only just seen your post as we were in to update the page. We are extremely sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit. We are a very small charity and a negative review such as yours has a devastating effect on the morale of our hard working volunteers. As can be seen from the many reviews made by our happy and satisfied visitors on our Google and Trip Advisor pages, poor reviews such as yours are very much in the minority. If you would like to give us a call on 0141 812 5335 we would be pleased to discuss this matter further with you. We do hope you will give us another chance and come back and see us and our wonderful, well cared for and much loved animals.

One of the staff was explaining how the bunnies will be adopted out to loving homes. I would be very much interested in finding out how the adoption process works please if someone could get back to me about this?

    Keep up the great work!!

  8. My 1 1/2 year old son and I enjoyed a brilliant afternoon at the farm today. We were especially lucky to have been given a guided tour and were introduced to the animals by Isla and Sam who volunteer on a Saturday. This was our first time to the farm but we can’t wait to bring mum next time. This is a beautiful concept which is clearly working to the benefit of the animals, volunteers and visitors alike. Thanks, Sandy and Lenny.

  9. Just spent the day helping out at the farm. A great place to visit, great staff and the visitors were all having a great time getting up close with the animals. A brilliant day, can’t wait to go back and would recommend getting in touch to volunteer so you can enjoy fresh air, exercise and some brilliant people and animals.

  13. Very disappointed.

Spent nearly 2 hours on public transport with our 19 month old to get to the farm and told it’s closed despite no mention on the website and a declaration on the news section about it being open again.

    Not happy in the slightest.

  15. Last year I had the very great privilege of being allowed to adopt the beautiful, loving and smart wee Katy rabbit. She lives with me and my partner in our flat, is fully litter trained and even has her own room, though she spends most of her time lounging around with us! She is our pride and joy. Thanks to all at Lamont Farm and especially to Alice who made it possible for us to share our lives with this precious bunny.

  26. Not only did I and my sisters spend happy hours as children at Lamont Farm, but I had the privilege also of being next-door neighbour to Charlie, Jean & the rest of the Doran family for nearly thirty years. He was an inspirational man, and a great gentleman to boot.

Long may Lamont Farm continue! I’m looking forward to taking my baby son there when he’s a wee bit older!
